Naomi Vance Jones passed from this life on April 20, 2019 at the age of seventy-six.

Born to John Lewis and Virginia Sandberg Vance in Salt Lake City on October, 29, 1942, she had one younger sister, Lucille Vance Thorne, and three older half siblings who preceded her in death. After Naomi’s mother passed from this life, Naomi was raised by her cousin, Juana Taylor, and Vere Osguthorpe, who also preceded her in death. Naomi remained close to Juana and Vere’s children, Georgina, Harley, and Joe.

Naomi graduated from Olympus High School in 1961 and then attended the University of Utah for one year before marrying Raymond Marvell Jones of Taylorsville on October 26, 1962. Naomi and Marvell built their first home in Sandy and welcomed the birth of their two children, Glenda and Clay. Naomi and Marvell moved several times around the Salt Lake Valley and have been living in Riverton for over twenty years. Naomi worked for many years at Educator’s Mutual Insurance Company and enjoyed the many friendships she made through both work and church activities.

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was active in church affairs. She held many callings in the Church, both in the Primary and Relief Society organization. Naomi loved to garden and took pride in creating a beautiful yard. She loved her home and enjoyed decorating and creating with her beauty and artistry. She loved her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She enjoyed camping and vacations but especially family reunions. She appreciated her neighbors and the help they gave her in her elder years.

Naomi is survived by her husband, Raymond Marvell Jones; daughter, Glenda; son, Clayton; grandchildren, Nicole, Tanner, Zachary, Mason, and Audrey; and three great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the many neighbors and church members who cared for Naomi and Marvell.

Friends and family may call on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10:00-10:45 a.m. in the Riverton Park Ward Building, 12998 South 1300 West, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
