Joseph Matthew Long, 37, of McAlester, OK passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK.
Joseph was born September 18, 1981 in McAlester, OK to John David and Gwendolyn Kaye (Baggerly) Long.
Joseph served in the United States Navy for 6 years after graduating from high school. He was known as, “grandpa cool” to his grandchildren. His love for animals was undeniable as he had 10 dogs, 6 cats and a rat. He enjoyed cooking and most of all his family and friends.
Joseph is survived by Sharon Long of Canadian, OK; father, John Long of McAlester, OK; sons, Gabriel Long of Canadian, OK, Josh Grant of Canadian, OK and Christian Paul of McAlester, OK; daughters, Faith Paul of McAlester, OK, Summer Brastine of McAlester, OK, Shiann Worrall of Canadian, OK and Shellynia Johnson of Sacramento, CA; brothers, Joshua Long of McAlester, OK, Johnathon Long of McAlester, OK, Shawn Long of Wichita Falls, TX, Matthew Prather of Fritch, TX; sister, Jami Sue Mayfield of Fritch, TX; uncles, Bret Rivas and wife, Pattye of McAlester, OK and Johnny Rivas, III and wife, Pam of McAlester, OK; grandmother, Lawanna Long; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
