Mr. and Mrs. Rethmeier came to America and lived for a time in Schaumburg,with Mr. Becker, a cusin of Mrs. Rethmeier. The farm is now owned by Mr. Steinmeier. They bought an 80 acre farm in Barrington Township where they spent the remainder of their lives.
Eight children were born to them five of whom died of diptheria. One daughter and two sons survive. Mrs. Fred Schwemm of Barrington, Henry of Florida and John, who lives on the homestead. There are four grandchildren.Mr. Rethmeier died in April, 1910.
Burial was at Hoosier Grove Cemetery.
