Sudden Death of Herschel Bullen

Richmond, Cache Co. June 27 Herschel Bullen, one of the pioneers of Cache county and father of State Senator H. Bullen Jr., died suddenly at his home here at 2:20 o'clock this morning. Rheumatism of the heart was the cause of death.
In accordance with the wishes of the deceased, his funeral will be held at his residence, and will take place at 2 o'clock Wednesday.
Mr. Bullen was born in Mercer county, ME., Jan. 10, 1840. With his parents he went around Cape Horn in the ship Brooklyn in 1847 [1846] to come to Utah via San Francisco, Cal. He arrived in Utah in 1848 and came to Cache county in 1860 and was one of the founders of Richmond. For many years he was a railroad contractor. He has been active in the up-building of the county since his arrival here and was held in high esteem by all who knew him...
