The Hezekiah Hall family left Maine in 1818, and Hezekiah's married sons John and Daniel were part of that migration. Hezekiah and his family settled in Dearborn County, Indiana, but John and his family went first to Cincinnati, Ohio, and remained there for a year or two. They then moved to Dearborn County, joining John's parents and siblings. The 1820 U.S. Census shows John Hall living in Laughery Township, Dearborn County, immediately next to the household of his mother. (His father apparently died before the census.) John died in Dearborn County between 1840 and 1850. He appears with his family in the 1840 U.S. Census, but is not there in 1850 U.S. Census, though other family members are.
John and Data (Theodata Nocks) Hall were the parents of at least six children: (1) Lyman Hall, b. abt 1811 in Maine, d. 1871 and buried in Louisa County, Iowa; (2) Sylvanus Hall, b. 15 Jul 1815 in Maine, d. 1885 in Becker County, Minnesota and buried in Barry County, Michigan; (3) Reuben Knox Hall, b. 6 Jan 1822 in Switzerland County, Indiana, d. 7 Jan 1887 in Guthrie County, Iowa and buried there; (4) Amanda Elizabeth (Betsy) Hall, b. Apr 1831 in Indiana, d. Oct 1914 in Crawford County, Kansas, married William Lawler 16 Aug 1852 in Jefferson County, Indiana; (5) Sarah Theodora (Theodata?) Hall, b. about 1833 and living with brother Lyman in 1850 in Smyrna, Jefferson County, Indiana; (6) John Hall, b. about 1835 in Indiana, living with elder brother Lyman in Jefferson County, Indiana in 1850 and in Iowa with Lyman in 1856.
