Per Family Bible and newspaper account of ordeal of this family; they all contracted cholera in the fall of 1833 and in the space of a couple weeks five members of the family and a colored servant were dead, two boys were not expected to survive and the one remaining son was caring for them all. The physicians helped bury the parents and children but only a neighbor boy helped bury the servant. The DeBaun Cemetery is located on the actual homestead of this family and they would have been some of the first to be interred here. Given the circumstances of the deaths with only three young boys surviving one would not expect to fine any permanent grave markers to have been placed.
