She leaves her husband, Millard S. Ashley; a son, Stephen D. Ashley of Grafton; a daughter, Tamara Hallenbrook of Northboro; her father, Merritt Powers of West Hartford, Conn.; a brother, Merritt Powers Jr. of Rehoboth; three sisters, Lael VonHolt of Columbia, Mo., Deborah Stone of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Judith Stoddard of Rutland; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and nephews and nieces. Mr. and Mrs. Ashley observed their 45th wedding anniversary last December. She was born in Boston, daughter of Rea (Hunt) Powers, and was raised in Dighton. She lived six years in Northboro and 24 years in Westboro before moving to Florida in 1983.
Mrs. Ashley graduated from the former Dighton High School.
She worked for 15 years at Guaranty Bank in Westboro, retiring in 1983.
Mrs. Ashley was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Largo and a former member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Northboro and Westboro.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton and Upton, on the Common, Grafton. The Rev. Richard Perry will officiate. After cremation, entombment was in Curlew Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Palm Harbor, Fla. There are no calling hours. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made instead to the Lupus Foundation of America, Suncoast Chapter, P.O. Box 23244, St. Petersburg, Fla. 33742.
