He made a profession of faith and united with the Rock Ridge Baptist Church in early life and later united with the Buck Grove church of which he remained a faithful member, although distance from the church kept him from attending, he lived a Christian life as all who knew him can attest.
In June 1881 he married Catherine B. Lawson and to this union were born nine children, three of whom survive. George P., Llllle M., and Joseph E., all of Meade County; ten grandchildren and one great grand child; one sister, Mrs. E. T. Hiner of Louisville and four brothers, John C. of Seymour, Texas, J. G., J. C., and J. E. all of Meade County, and a host of nieces and nephews and he numbered his friends by his acquaintances.
The family and community will surely miss "Uncle Press" as we affectionately called him, for he was a kind and loving father, a good neighbor and a loyal friend. We feel that we have lost a friend but Heaven is made richer by his going. Funeral services were held at the residence Monday April 12, at 1:00 p. m., conducted by Rev. D. E. Jones of Louisville. Burial was in the Benham cemetery.
