Dorothy J. Bess, 84, of Rushville, IN, passed away April 11, 2019.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 1 PM Monday, April 15, 2019 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory with Dr. David Richardson officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the service. Burial will follow at Arlington (IN) East Hill Cemetery.
Dorothy was born in Rushville, IN on June 30, 1934, a daughter of the late Kathryn Jenkins Wylie and Faye H. Wylie. She married Raymond B. (Egan) Bess, August 26, 1955 and he preceded her in death April 9, 2010. She graduated from Rushville High School in 1952.
Dorothy work throughout her life to help support her family. She worked at the former Rushville National Bank and Minears Clothing store and then later retired from the Trane Corporation where she worked in the office many years. She was also active in the Rush County Senior Center and D.A.R. Dorothy was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Rushville.
She is survived by a daughter, Joni (Jay) Grubbs, of Carthage, IN; a son, Brian (Holly) Bess of Rushville, IN; a sister, Betty Ashby, of Rushville, IN.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death sisters, Mary Davey and Janet Land.
