Karen Lee (Mitchell) Dickson, 50, of Rochester, died peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at her home.

Born on March 18, 1954 in Manchester, she was the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Beard) Mitchell.

Mrs. Dickson was graduated from the Sacred Heart Nursing College in Manchester. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Frisbie Memorial Hospital and the Rochester Manor. She loved being a nurse and was heartbroken when her illness made her unable to work.

She was a very active volunteer advocate, assisting families with children with disabilities. She enjoyed riding snowmobiles, gardening, the outdoors, camping, quilting, making crafts, flowers, and the companionship of her dogs. She was an avid hockey mom, loved to fly fish and spend time up at her camp in Pittsburg, and most of all, spending every moment possible with her granddaughter.

Members of her family include her husband of 29 years, James A. Dickson; her two sons; her father, Paul Mitchell of Manchester; a sister and two brothers. She was predeceased by her mother, Ruth Mitchell, and a brother, Gary Mitchell.

Burial in the St. Mary's Cemetery on Lowell Street, Rochester.
