Betty J. Sawyer, 89 years, of Lincoln, Nebraska formerly of Fremont, Nebraska died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Homestead Rehab Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Betty was born November 24, 1924 in Dodge City, Kansas to Kenneth and Clara (Hampton) Hall.
She was raised in Kansas and lived at Larned, Kansas. In 1951 she moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska and in 1977 she moved to Fremont. She worked at Hormel’s as a production line worker and then went to the meatpacking plant in Schuyler as an Inspector for USDA and retired in 1986. She moved to Lincoln in February of 2014.
Betty married Howard G. Sawyer on April 11, 1983 in Fremont and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2005.
She was a member of the church of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She also volunteered at the Low Income Ministry, May Museum and was a member of Fremont Area Medical Center Auxiliary.She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Harold McCarthy, Robert Aufenkamp and Howard Sawyer; son, Britt R. Aufenkamp; brother, Dustin Hall and sister, Kathleen Baldwin.
Family will receive friends Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, per Betty’s wishes, memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of your choice.
