Jesse Ray Burgin, 73, a native of Edgewood, la., and a resident of Santa Cruz since 1949, died yesterday in a local hospital. He had been ill for the last two years. His home was at 1730 Soquel drive.
He lived in Edgewood until 1914 when he moved to Minnesota where he lived until 1928 and then lived in Idaho before coming to California and residing in the San Joaquin Valley until he came to Santa Cruz in retirement.
He is survived by his widow, Vina Burgin; two sons, Lloyd L. Burgin of Santa Cruz and Garland Ray Burgin of Folsom; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Hovey of Santa Cruz; three sisters in Medford, Ore., another sister in Wisconsin and another sister in Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Assembly of God church in Soquel.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. in White's chapel with Rev. J. Reuben Davis of the Soquel Assembly of God church officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Memorial park.
