"DEATH OF A WELL KNOWN CITIZEN

John J. Phillips, aged 73 years died at a Morristown hospital on Tuesday night. He had been in declining health for several months and was taken to the hospital on Sunday before his death. He was well known throughout the county, served in the Union army during the civil war and leaves a wife and four daughters. The funeral was conducted Thursday by Rev. J. A. Phillips, and the body was buried at the Pemberton cemetery near Narrow Valley."
