Gail was born June 19, 1933, in Georgetown, Bear Lake County, Idaho. She was the fourth of four children born to Melvin J. Clark and LaReva Bacon. Important events in her early life include being baptized by her Dad, trips with her Sunday School class to the Logan Temple, and family outings to Yellowstone Park.
Gail graduated from Montpelier High School in 1951. Later that year she enrolled as a full-time student at Brigham Young University where she majored in educational instruction and speech. After graduation in 1956, she moved to Monterey Park, Los Angeles County, CA, to join her two sisters Lula and Beryl who were also school teachers.
For the next three years Gail taught kindergarten in El Monte CA. In 1959, Gail moved to Davis California and taught first grade. One year later she met the love of her life, Philip Halisky, at a square dance. He was working in Davis, as a college professor. They were married in the LDS chapel at Woodland California on August 5, 1961. At the time, Philip Halisky was investigating the LDS Church, one year later he became a member.
In the spring of 1964 Gail and Philip moved to central New Jersey where they remained for the next 31 years. When children came along, Gail changed her career to full-time stay-at-home Mom. In 1978, her family was sealed in the Washington DC temple. In 1995, as retired empty nesters, Gail and her husband moved to Logan, Utah, to be near family and enjoy their golden years.
In 2014, after her husband passed away, Gail sold her home and moved to Williamsburg retirement community. Gail was a spiritual giant despite short stature and medical challenges due to scoliosis. She was always positive and never complained. She has been an active in church her entire life serving in many capacities. Her hobbies included: piano playing, cooking, sewing, reading and traveling. She will be remembered as a quiet, patient, kind, unassuming, woman with a special talent for teaching children and lifting the spirits of those around her.
Gail Halisky is survived by her sisters; Lula DeValve and Beryl Wheeler, her brother Sheldon Clark, her sons; Laurence Halisky and Merland Halisky, and five grandsons; Zachary Halisky, Michael Halisky, Thomas Halisky, Andrew Halisky and Matthew Halisky.
