LEXINGTON - Carrie Speight Turnage Ritchie, 94, died Sunday, May 2, 2010. Born in Pitt County, N. C., June 23, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Aaron C. and Maybell Turnage.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church officiated by Reverend W. Eric Friedrichs, Pastor. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mrs. Ritchie retired as a registered nurse, last working at Baptist Medical Center before moving to Ridgeland, S. C., where she and her husband owned and operated Forest Motel until 1971. She faithfully attended Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, where she was the oldest member and was lovingly called "Miss Carrie." She was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Laurin E. "Jack" Ritchie; her parents; sisters, Evelyn Waller and Carmen Murphy, and brother, A.C. Turnage Jr.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ritchie will always be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, and a faithful church member.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her church building fund: Mt. Herman Lutheran Church, 3011 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC 29169 - "Building on Holy Ground."
