April 3, 1927 - April 6, 2019
Virginia Rose Schott Dotson, daughter of the late James Richard and Margaret Jones Rose, passed away April 6, 2019 at the age of 92.

Virginia was born on April 3, 1927 in Jefferson County, Kentucky and lived there until the death of her father when she was only 18 months old. Her mother moved the family to Laurel County, the home of her maternal grandfather, Frank Catron Jones.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Edward L. Schott in 1985 and Estill Dotson in 2001. She was the youngest of eleven children, all of whom predeceased her. They were Gertrude Finney, Alma Rose, Herbert Rose, Hazel Roman, Etta Sue Rose, James Rose, Helen Casteel, Margaret Wheeler, Anna Mae Nelson, and Pauline Grimes.

She is survived by her children, Diana Schott (Bob) Lincks, Roger (Carol) Schott, Edward Lincoln (Julie) Schott all of London; five grandchildren Tyler Paige Lincks of Louisville; Robert Michael ‘Rob’ Lincks of Pineville; Monica (Corey) Jones, Matthew Schott, and Edward Landon Schott all of London; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett Rae Jones and Natalee Rose Jones of London. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law Louise Schott Gaines and Margaret Schott Gains and dear friend Roy Schott all of London.

Virginia was a member of East Bernstadt First Baptist Church, the church her grandfather Frank Catron Jones helped organize. She attended St. John’s Swiss Reformed Church.

She was a dedicated and hard-working member of the East Bernstadt Fire Department Board of Directors for more than 40 years. The department was founded by her husband, Edward and other community members in 1965. She served as the board secretary for more than twenty five years. After her retirement as secretary in 2009, she was selected as a Director Emeritus.

She felt blessed to work most of her adult life first as a merchant with her husband, Edward at Schott’s Stores, Inc. (1953-1985), owner of Schott’s Hardware (1985-1991), owner and operator of Rainbow Florist, and later in her life as a branch office assistant for David Vickers at Edward Jones Investments (1994-2010). She retired at age 83 and was still very vital until an accident at age 91 changed her life. She was truly blessed in having a loving family, many opportunities to serve her community, and having made so many close friendships in her life.
