Abigail (Knapp) Parkins was the daughter of Moses Knapp and Eleanor (Haptonstall) Knapp. She was probably born in New York State in 1775 but lived in Pendleton County, VA, now WV in the 1780's. She married James Parkins (b. 1765) on July 7, 1797. The marriage bond was found by a family historian, Steven J. Zuraff, on Marich 1, 2019. Seven sons and three daughters have been identified as children of Abigail and James Parkins. They resided their married life about three miles east of Lewisburg, WV. The 1850 Greenbrier census reports Abigail by the name, Susan Perkins, age (75). Abigail's 1st born, "Moses", was named after his maternal grandfather, Moses Knapp and her 2nd child, "Eleanor", was named after Abigail's mother, Eleanor Haptonstall.
