Marie Callis, 93, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at her home in Knoxville.

Marie was born in Knoxville on June 21, 1925, to the late George Mays and Louise Miller Mays.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, the Reverend Henry O. Callis.

Marie and Henry resided throughout Tennessee and Kentucky during their time in the ministry.

During the 1940s, Marie worked at Vultee Aircraft Plant in Nashville and was proud to serve her country as many women did during the World War II era.

She is survived by sons Roger Callis of Farragut, husband to Myleathie Callis; and David Callis of Nashville, husband to Amanda Wolfe. Marie is also survived by three grandchildren, Bridget Callis Ross (Bryan), Brian Callis (Amanda), Megan Callis Hall; and two great-grandchildren: Roman David Callis and Coral Louise Callis.

Private graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville. In

lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Arrowhead Church, 3113 W. Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920.
