Morris "Gene" Cohen, 86, Grandview Plaza, passed away April 3, 2009 at Geary Community Hospital. Gene was born January 2, 1923 in Chicago, IL to Samuel and Mildred (Walker) Cohen.

He served as a Tech Sergeant in the US Air Force for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force he served in the Civil Service for 18 years as a Air Traffic Controller at the Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, CA. Upon the death of his father, Gene relocated to Junction City to manage the family business-Cohen's Chicken House. Gene also served as a Boy Scout Master for a number of years in California. He was also a member of the Union Lodge #7; Scottish Rite, ISIS Shrine, American Legion Post #45, and Elks Lodge #1037.

Mr. Cohen was preceded in in death by his parents, Wife Wanda, daughters Debbie and Millie and son David.

Gene is survived by his loving wife Lois "Gene" Cohen, daughters Carolyn and husband R.J. Shafer, Linda and husband Rex Carpenter, Suzy and husband John Brusseau, Sharon Stczynski, Stephanie Higdon and son Scott and wife Sharon Potwin.

Cremation is planned. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contribution may be made to Shriners Children Hospital 2001 S. Lindburgh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131. Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
