GORRIE, Mrs. Joan Arant, age 86, a resident of Wetumpka died Saturday, October 1, 2005 in Northport, AL. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 12:00 pm at Wetumpka City Cemetery with Dr. Charles Hobson officiating with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home of Northport directing. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to service at the cemetery. Mrs. Gorrie preceded her husband of 58 years in death, Marshall Sheppard ""Shep"" Gorrie. Survivors include her sister, Marion Wall of Wetumpka, six nieces, several great and great great nieces and nephews with a host of friends and church family. Mrs. Gorrie was a dear lady with a sweet spirit. She had a good life and loved her church. She now joins her partner in life, ""Shep"" and her Heavenly Father. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Beau Dunn, Dr. Spencer Coleman, her Sunday School Class of First Baptist in Wetumpka and all neighbors over the past 55 years in Wetumpka. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one's favorite charity or to First Baptist Church of Wetumpka.
