Mrs. M. S. (Peggy) Melvin, 71, formerly of Cedar Stone Apartments of Jackson, died Saturday in Care Inn in Clinton. Services are 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery.
A native of Louisville, she had been a resident of Jackson for 30 years. She attended Van Winkle Baptist Church in Jackson. She was a member of Kingston Methodist Church in Laurel. She was a former bookkeeper and receptionist for her husband. D. M. S. Melvin, who preceded her in death in 1982.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Alice Marie Lowther of Jackson; sister, Mrs. Nell Gates of Memphis, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
