Sally Ann Mellon, 86, of Marquette, died peacefully Sunday, March 31, 2019, at the Norlite Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 18, 1932, in Benton Harbor, Mich., a daughter of the late Victor E. and Clarabelle L. (Messner) Moore.
Sally attended Northern Michigan University and worked as a counselor and assistant director at the Caring House in Iron Mountain. She later worked as a florist at Fredrick’s Floral before opening her own floral shop, the Daisy Tree.
She was a member of Friends of Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres, Baraga Association, LSAA (Lake Superior Art Association), Tri-Parish Mission Community, St. Louis Retreat Committee, an Audubon board member and member of the Marquette Beautification Committee. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Pantry, Sundara House, The Special Olympics and at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
She resided at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living the last few years of her life, where she was a vibrant, helpful and involved resident.
Sally is survived by three sons, Marc W. Brink of Appleton, Wis., Michael R. Brink of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Matthew D. Brink of Everett, Washington; grandchildren, Mara and Joseph Brink; stepchildren, Douglas (Val) of Menominee, Brian of Menominee, Scott (Karen) of Christmas, Dennis (Stacy) of Parma, Mich., Craig (Rowena) Mellon of Menominee and Paula (Tim) Mellon Haws of Washington, Utah; numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Elizabeth) Mellon, Judy Mellon, Patricia Mikulich, William Brink and Marilyn Bridges.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Donald Brink and David Mellon.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5 at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Marquette, with Rev. Glenn Theoret officiating.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to Mass at the church.
Interment will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans Activity Fund: 425 Fisher Street, Marquette, MI 49855; or to UPAWS: PO Box 968, Marquette, MI 49855.
