BERENICE LAVON DENSFORD

Berenice Densford, 88, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away November 8, 2016.

Berenice was born in Holcomb, Missouri to Richard and Florence McCoin on February 22, 1928. She grew up in a farming community, and the family (including children) worked long hours to tend to crops before studying for school the next day. She married George Plesa in 1945 and settled in Omaha Nebraska, later moving to Ralston NE, where she became the town librarian and where they raised their daughters, Deborah and Joan.

Berenice moved to Green Valley in 1992, where she was an active part of her community. She was a frequent (and enthusiastic) churchgoer and was seen daily taking walks or swimming in the community pool. She authored the "Talk of the Town" column for the Green Valley News and loved socializing with friends. She discovered a love of dancing in Green Valley and was a competitor in dance competitions, where she and her partners did quite well.

Berenice is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Florence; her husbands, George Plesa and Billy Joe Densford; her sisters, Norma Carrell, Daisy Hood Ray, Maggie Williams and Ruth Stricklin; and her brothers, Ray McCoin and Donald McCoin.

Berenice is survived by her sister, Maxine Citta (Carl); her daughters Deborah Becker (Robert), and Joan Plesa; her two grandchildren, Jonathan and Elisa Becker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
