GEORGE P. ALLEN

George P. Allen, 74, formerly of this area, who retired to Santa Cruz five years ago, died at the Veterans Hospital, Palo Alto, after a long illness. He was a native of Marceline, Mo.

Mr. Allen was well known in San Mateo and Burlingame where he had served as a postman for over 25 years. He retired in 1961. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Burlingame, and Herman Sons Lodge 51, San Mateo and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War I.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Allen, Santa Cruz; a son, George Allen of Santa Barbara; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Seavy, Pueblo, Colo.; five stepchildren, eight grandchildren and three brothers and one sister.

Private services were held today at the Roller and Hapgood Chapel, Palo Alto. Inurnment at Skylawn Cemetery will follow. Contributions to the American Cancer Society are suggested.
