She was born on Sept. 8, 1920 in the South America community of Saline County, daughter of the late Logan Dempsey and Jessie (Hibbs) Dempsey.
Elsie married Leo King on Dec. 16, 1939 in Mayfield, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1986. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills where she taught Sunday school for 16 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Ronald King and Lindell King; sister, Bernice Swan; and brothers, Kenneth Dempsey, Blaine Dempsey, William Dempsey, Andrew Dempsey and Earl Dempsey.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, with the Rev. Harl Cockrum officiating.
Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to the 11 a.m. service time on Friday.
