Leonard Dorthan Stewart, age 84 of Chattahoochee, Florida, passed away Tuesday June 28, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Stewart, three children, Sheila Watson and her husband Royce of Apalachicola, Florida; Jimmy Stewart of Sneads, Florida; and Sheri Thames and her husband Eddy of Chattahoochee Florida, as well as three stepchildren, Donnie, Kevin, and Renee Cribley; six grandchildren, Celeste Stewart, Melissa Wainwright, Brandon Stewart, Jared Thames, Jordan Thames, and Jamie Stewart; four great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members. Leonard was born in Live Oak, Florida. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard as well as the U.S. Army. He moved to the Chattahoochee area in 1974 where he built a successful Badcock Furniture business and also served a term as mayor. He was actively involved in and generously supported local events and organizations throughout his time here. Leonard was very much loved by his family and many friends, and will be missed dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Mabel Stewart, his four siblings and his eldest son Leonard Dorthan Stewart, Jr. Services are as follows: visitation Thursday June 30, 2016 from 4-6 P.M. CDT and funeral services Friday July 1, 2016 at 10 A.M. CDT at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home. Lanier-Andler Funeral Home of Sneads, Florida is in charge of arrangements. Phone 850-593-9900.
