Apr 2019: From here down in the descendants, it could be incorrect as Wayne Smoot states that David Smutz 1786-1852 is not the son of Abraham Schmutz 1753-1830 as his son David was born in 1796 in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and not MD.

History of Montgomery Co OH, W H Beers, 1881, p. 352, under Jackson Tp:
"Daniel A Stockslager, farmer, PO Farmersville, b in MD 6 Apr 1830, is son o Philip & Sarah Smutz Stockslager, . . . The maternal grandfather Abraham Smutz, was b in Germany, but emigrated to America and settled in PA, thence to MD,and c1833 came to OH and located in Jackson Tp."

According to my research, his wife Mary A, Garver was married to a Martin Souder Rohrer. His information is born 9/4/1751 in Pennsylvania and died 8/5/1786 in Maryland. His parents were:

Abraham Schmutz (FAG197840382)
Suggested edit: Abraham Smutz moved at some point from PA to Shenandoah Co, VA. Where I think most if not all kids were born.
He wrote his Will 22 Jan 1825 and Probate was 12 Oct 1830 in Shenandoah County, VA.
