Ervin Barber, 84, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home in Pell City, Alabama. He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce (Partridge) Barber; his daughter, Catherine Barber (Carolyn); his granddaughter Kimberly Martinez (Andres); great grandchildren Marlene, AJ and Sophia; siblings Roland (Eloise), Earleen (Clifford), Melvin (Sue), Betty (Carl), and many close friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents; his grandson Jeffrey Barber; and siblings Joybell (Wayne); Mildred; Marie, and Dewey (Alice). Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at St. Clair Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday April 4 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Born and raised in Pell City, the son of Andy Barber and Lilar (Hopper) Barber. The 3rd of 9 children, he met his wife in Pell City and they were married on Dec 14, 1959. Mr. Barber and his wife relocated to Royal Oak, Michigan in 1967. Mr. Barber was a talented carpenter and mechanic. Over the years he worked at carpentry, construction, steel and finally burial vaults until he retired to Pell City in 1993.
