Funeral services for R. V. Capps of the Antioch Community were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Philmore Worley of Antioch Baptist Church officiated. Burial was at Antioch Cemetery. Capps, 79, died Wednesday morning at the Panola Nursing Home. Born in the Antioch Community on Dec. 8, 1907, he was the son of John Thomas and Nannie Hudson Capps. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stassie Haney Capps, on March 5, 1979 and a son, Earl Dean Capps on Sept. 3, 1983. Survivors include a son, R. N. Capps of Carthage; a daughter, Vallie Carrico of Dubach, La.; four brothers, John Capps of Tahoe Vista, Ca., Cater, Sid and Carrie Capps, all of Carthage; eight grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Published in The Panola Watchman, June 21, 1987.
