Where Frederick Alberty is buried is unknown at this time. We also don't know if he was German or Italian descent. At least one of his children (John) has a story attached in FamilySearch that his father was German, but there is no documentation.

I am creating this memorial in order to attach it to his wives and children.

Testimony about the Family of Frederick Alberty from the Revolutionary War Pension Application Files of Frederick Albarty and widow Elizabeth Alberty by Ann Holladay

This documents describes information about the family of Frederick Albarty found in the Revolutionary War pension application files of Frederick and Elizabeth Albarty. The pension records contain testimony that Frederick Albarty had been married three times, once before the Revolution and twice since, as seen in the following transcription [original records available at the National Archives, Ancestry.com, Fold3.com, Heritagequestonline.com]:

"State of NC, this day came David Fremon Surry County, Before me and made oath in due form that Fredrick Alberta told him that he was married three times and twice since the revolution afore and that Elezabath cold [called?] the present wife is the third wife only soposed to be his wife. Sworn to and subscribed before me. Sept 26, 1846. David (x his mark) Fremon. Attest JL Fulk JP."

The following testimony by Matthew and Sarah Laffoon within the pension records states that Elizabeth [Raper] Alberty was Frederick Albarty's third wife, that Frederick had a son named Henery by his first wife, and that Frederick had a son named Moses by his second wife:

"We Matthew Laffoon & Sarah Laffoon his wife do cirtify that we have herd Frederic Alberty and Elizabeth Alberty said to be his third wife and said Matthew Laffoon says that he has seen one of said Alberty sons that he said of his first wife by the name of Henery, one other son of his second wife by the name of Moses & some other of his childring that I do not recollect there names: and said Mathew Laffoon: do also say that he has herd Elizabeth Alberty say that she was said Frederic Alberty third wife. Matthew Laffoon. Drury Hodges JP"

"Sarah Laffoon says that she herd Elizabeth Alberty say that she was the third wife of said Frederic Alberty… Sally Laffoon. Drury Hodges JP"

Some family trees online indicate that some researchers have interpreted "Henery" to be the surname of Frederick's first wife. It appears, though, that Matthew Laffoon is trying to identify the Alberty children in his testimony. It is also more likely that someone in 1846 would be more likely to recall the names of Albarty's children rather than the surnames of women he was married to more than 50 years previously.

The pension records also state that Frederick Albarty had three children by his first wife, three children by his second wife, and twelve children by his third wife, Elizabeth Raper. However, Elizabeth herself stated that she had ten children. Although the validity of these numbers could easily be questioned since the births had been so far in the past from the dates of testimony, the likelihood that Albarty had children with all three of his wives seems reasonable from the evidence in the pension records.

"State of NC, Surry County, Sept the 28th, 1846. This day came Joel Bray before me one of the acting Justices of the Piece for said cty and made oath in due form of law that he had herd Frederic Alberty say that he had had two wives before he had Elizabeth and they had three childring a piece and Elizabeth said to be his third wife and says she has had 12 childring. Joel Bray. Sworn and subscribed to before me Drury Hodges JP."

Frederick Albarty and Elizabeth Raper married in 1788. Only 10 of their children were named in the pension records, although an 11th name, Catharine Alberty, was crossed out, possibly indicating that a child who had died.

"…Jesse Albarty was born...December 27th 1788. Nancy Albarty born 28th day of February 1791. Juda Albarty was born the 30th day of June 1793. John Albarty was born the 18th of July 1795. Franky Albarty was born the 30th of September 1797. Polly Albarty was born…December 7th 1801. Frederick Albarty was born March 12th 1804. James Albarty was born May 14th 1807. Andrew Albarty was born December 3rd 1809. Catharine Albarty was born November 26th David Albarty was born the 3rd day of September 1812…"
