Elaine D. Seibert, 94, died Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Bell Oaks Place in Newburgh, Indiana. Elaine was born in East Chicago, Indiana on December 29, 1924. She was the daughter of James F. and Sally F. Conner.

With her family, she moved to Evansville, Indiana in 1935 and attended Bosse High School before moving to Evanston, Illinois in 1942 where she graduated from Evanston Township High School the following year.

In December 1944 on her 20th birthday, Elaine enlisted in the US Marine Corps. She served in the USMC Women's Reserves at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina until her honorable discharge at the end of World War II.

After returning to Evansville, she met Earl H. Seibert. Earl introduced her to golf, and while dating, they spent many happy hours playing Helfrich Golf Course together as she fine-tuned her game. They married in 1950 and after living in several midwestern cities, returned to Evansville to stay in 1961 where they raised their three children and enjoyed being with their extended family. Hosting the family to ring in the New Year became a tradition. Later, this became an annual vacation with the family to the Bahamas, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and cruises to Alaska (to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2000), the Caribbean and Western Mexico. They joined Rolling Hills Country Club in 1961 and remained members throughout their lives enjoying golf, cards and camaraderie. Later, they also joined Evansville Country Club where Elaine won the 9-hole championship more than once.

Elaine was a consummate homemaker and hostess known for her baking prowess, hosting a weekly party for her bowling friends-turned-card players - and to their delight, she baked each a special one-of-a-kind birthday cake for all to enjoy. She was an active member of her neighborhood garden club, and she and Earl were influential members of a monthly Evansville dinner club for couples. They also enjoyed Evansville Aces basketball and Evansville Triplet baseball games. After becoming empty nesters, they moved to Belle Manor East, where staff and neighbors relished the treats she would make.

Elaine is survived by son, Earl H. (Si) Seibert, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Town and Country, Missouri; daughter Jo A. Chacón and her husband, Manuel of San Antonio, Texas; son Ross S. Seibert and his wife Gayle of San Diego, California; granddaughter Heather Batdorf (Travis), great-grandsons Joshua Seibert (Cassie Befort) and Ethan Seibert, and great-great-grandsons Landyn Befort and Carter Seibert of Rochester, Minnesota; granddaughter Megan Bestrom (Lucas) and great-grandchildren Noah Bestrom, Elise Bestrom and Sarah Bestrom also of Rochester.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, parents and her only sibling, her sister, Eleanor C. Swaim.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 South Hebron Avenue. Private funeral services and entombment will be held at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
