Funeral Services For
Former Legislator
To Be Held at St Stephen
St Stephen, Sept 23— W. P. Russell of Russellville one of the oldest and best known citizens in this section of the state died at 7:15 this morning.
Funeral services will be conducted from the residence, four miles from here at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in the cemetery of the Old Brick Church St Stephen.
Mr Russell was born September 25 1852 and was a lifelong resident of the Russellville community He was very active in church work He served as an elder and superintendent of the Sunday school here and also as treasurer of the state board of the Christian church for years.
He was interested in educational work and was a trustee of the Russellville school.
He represented Berkeley County in the state legislature and was active in civic work until his death He was a trustee of the Berkeley Hospital.
He represented Berkeley County in was formerly Miss Marie Legattie Brunson and the following children: Mrs J C Eagerton of Montgomery Ala., E. F. Russell of Brooklyn N Y., H. K. Russell of St. Stephen, Mrs. B. D. Oden of Russellville, Mrs. K. N. Felder of Holly Hill, Mrs. Ira Cox of Russellville, Mrs. J. H. Clarke of Eutawville, Mrs. F. F. Drowata Jr of Mayfield Ky and Mrs E F (Margaret Russell) Oliver of Charlotte N C who formerly taught at Hamrick school in Columbia.
