Aletha was the daughter of Warren Stouffer and Minnie Myers Stouffer; wife of Raymond Fuchs; mother of Anna, Ruth and Raymond Jr.; and sister of Forrest R. Stouffer. Her father was a machinist for the railroad. Little Aletha was only two when her mother died and was buried in Ohio. A couple of years later, her father married Jessie. They lived in Baltimore and had several more children.
