James Farris was a farmer.

(3) Rosanna Bennett on 4 March 1875.

Father of nine children (three with his first wife, four with his second wife and two with his third wife).

Resident of Owen County, Indiana in 1847.

Resident of Sangamon County, Illinois in 1850.

Resident of Pleasant Grove Township, Marion County, Iowa in 1870 and 1875.

Resident of Prairie Township, Montgomery County, Missouri in 1880.

Shortly prior to his death, he transferred his land (SE NE 33-51-5) in southern Cuivre Township, Audrain County, Missouri to his son Frederick A. Farris and his son's wife, Susie B. (Lowe) Farris, for one dollar.

He died on 6 April 1897 in Audrain County, Missouri. He was buried in Payne Cemetery at Mount Carmel (a former trading point in southern Cuivre Township), Audrain County, Missouri (Middletown Chips, 15 April 1897).
