The daughter of Alabama county farm agent John "Pop" Yarbrough, Mrs. Stevenson was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Alabama and married the late Rev. Tom Stevenson during World War II. She joined her husband in Berlin following the War where he pastored a German church.
After a stint in Scotland, the couple returned to Alabama where they served Methodist churches in Boaz, Aliceville, Jacksonville, Hueytown, Scottsboro, Roanoke, Decatur and Cahaba Heights. She taught high school and coached the debate team in Scottsboro and taught high school junior college in Roanoke.
The couple retired to Pinson where Rev. Stevenson died in 1996. She moved in with her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Connie Stevenson in Scottsboro in 2010.
Mrs. Stevenson is survived by three sons, Tommy, Paul and Mark and will be missed my many.
Services will be graveside March 15 at 1 p.m. at Pinson United Methodist Church.
