He was born on January 17, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mr. Nation was a geologist and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Utah and his Master’s degree from the Colorado School of Mines. He held several different engineering positions in his life including at Duval Mining Corporation, the United States Geological Survey, and the Bureau of Land Management. Later in his career, he became a Certified Nursing Assistant, Computer Network Administrator, and finally, a Custodian with the State of Wyoming. He was an avid rock hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He and his wife were the camp hosts for years at Hog Park Reservoir and he had his own claim and gold mine. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by a large family who will miss him very much, including his wife, Linda Jean Nation; children, Jackie Maher, Lisa Cook (Dale), Kristi DeGroat (Harry), Chad Nation, Gary Nation (Sabra), Wendy Gregorio (Richard), Aaron Nation, and Ryan Nation (Christina); a brother, Gale Hawkins Nation (Linda); seventeen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Nation was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Nation, Jr. and Norma Hawkins Nation.
