Dr. David Dwight "Dave" Green, 76, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Murrysville, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 25, 1941, in Trafford, son to the late Robert P. and Frances (Witman) Green. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Green. A graduate of Trafford High School and Grove City College, he received his doctorate degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Prior to his retirement, Dr. David practiced optometry for 44 years with offices in Holiday Park and Greensburg. His service in the Army as a captain in the medical service corps continued as a vision consultant in the Butler Veterans Hospital. He was a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, member of the Western Pennsylvania Optometric Association, Pennsylvania Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and the National Association of Veteran Affairs Optometrists. Out of all his optometric accomplishments, his greatest was practicing with his son, Dr. Chad Green, in their offices at Eyecare Greengate. He devoted his life and his loving heart to his wife of 55 years, Carol (Bell) Green, and his family. He was the loving father to Kymberly (Dr. Gary) Reck, of Gibsonia, Tammy (Dr. Robert) Ledbetter, of Lutz, Fla., and Dr. Chad (Tina) Green, of Harrison City; dedicated and loving Pap Pop of Logan, Chase, Lindsay and Tiffany Reck, Cole and Sydney Pavlock, Ryan Ledbetter and Ava, Carter and Sophia Green; and a constant companion to his Wheaton Terrier, Rooney. His love for travel would always bring him back home to his family. He was always eager to plan the next family adventure. His fondest memories were of the family vacations and trips filled with laughter and grandchildren. He also loved gardening, golfing and the Pittsburgh Steelers. David will be fondly remembered for his dedication to his wife and family. That dedication also extended to his staff and their families and a lifetime of caring for the community. He was a true honorable gentleman that will be remembered as a caring, dedicated and generous husband, father, grandfather, doctor and friend.

Honoring David's wishes, a celebration of life will be held for immediate family only in Tampa, Fla.
