Albert Andrew “Dutch” Strzelczyk Sr., 84, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, in his home in St. Hedwig, Texas. Dutch was born Feb. 1, 1932, in St. Hedwig to Julius and Margaret (Kalka) Strzelczyk.

He married Lorraine Adams in 1954. Dutch was very committed to the community of St. Hedwig. He became the first fire chief of the St. Hedwig Volunteer Fire Department and served as such for 25 years. He also was elected as St. Hedwig’s first mayor, serving 10 consecutive terms, all the while running the St. Hedwig Club, where he enjoyed playing dominoes and shooting pool.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Frank and Pete; and his sisters, Irene Woitena and Florence Strzelczyk.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 27, from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig.

A funeral Mass was held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the church, officiated by the Rev. Bill Zadora.

Entombment followed in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in St. Hedwig.
