Jesse Allman was born the son of William ans Sarah Ann Lucas Allman on December 9, 1851 in Indiana.

On October 7,1869, Jesse Allman and Elizabeth A Winkles were united in marriage by John Little, Justic of the Peace, in Jackson County, indiana. the marriage license and certificate are filed in Jackson County marriages 1867 - 1872 Volume F page 248.

the 1870 federal census listed Jesse and Betty A. Allman with their daughter Sarah A. Allman age 1 living in Hamilton , Jackson County, Indiana. Also listed was a possible brother of Elizabeth - Joseph Winkles aged 23.

In the 1880 federal census, jesse and Elizabeth Allman were living in Brownstown, Jackson county, Indiana with their children: Sarah Allman aged 10; john W. Allman aged 9; Otto Allman aged 6; Leora Allamn aged 5; and Herny (maybe Henry ? ) Allman aged 2.

Another marriage record was found . On October 1, 1887, John Little, Justice of the Peace for Jackson County united Jesse W. Allman and Elizabeth Allman together in marriage. The marriage license and certificate are filed in Jackson county marriages1883 -1888 Volume 1 page 537.

Jesse and Elizabeth Allman were living in Brownstown, along with maried daughter Lyla Russell aged 20 : husband Charles Russell aged 23; grandson Virgil Russell aged 1 and servant Eliza Copple aged 60.

By 1920 Jesse and Elizabeth Allman were living with their son Otto Allman and his wife Alta O. Allman, six children and grandchild Virgil Russell in brownstown, Indiana.

Obituary:

Jesse Allman an old settler, who lived almost his entire life at Gorbettown, passed away at the home of his son Otto Allman, last Thursday, aged 68 years, 1 month and 13 days. He was married to Elizabeth Winkles in September, 1880, and to this union seven children were born, three of which preceded him to the grave; leaving four sons and aged wife to mourn their loss. The funeral was held at the family home Saturday, conducted by Rev. F. H. Reynolds, after which his body was consigned to the tomb in Acme cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of their many friends in this their sad hour.

Note: the Indiana death certificate for Jesse Allman, #1168, stated that he was buried at Plasant Grove Cemetery on January 24, 1920. Plasant Grove is also known as Wayman Cemetery. However, his wife Elizabeth Winkles Allman is buried at Acme Cemetery.
