Wife of George F. Holmes, they married in Plymouth on 29 July 1882.

Obituary
In Plymouth: Feb. 10 - Mrs. Addie Sampson (Manter) Holmes, wife of George F. Holmes,
and a life-long resident of this town, died February 10 at her home on High street,
following an illness of heart trouble which kept her to her bed only five days.
She was seventy-one years of age, and was a direct descendant of Myles Standish and
Elder Brewster. Both her parents Ruth Sampson and George A. Manter were Plymoutheans.
Mrs. Holmes, women of sterling Christian character, became a member of Memorial
Methodist Episcopal church more than forty years ago, and was loyal in attendance at all
of its services, and in all branches of its work. She was a member of the official board,
president of the Woman's Home Missionary society, and one of the leaders of the Woman's
Bible class. She was also president of the local Woman's Christian Temperance Union;
and had been a faithful member of Mary Allerton Rebekah lodge for over forty-two years.
On July 29, 1932, Mr. and Mrs. Holmes observed their golden wedding anniversary.
The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon in Memorial M. E. church, and was conducted
by the pastor, Rev. Wilfred D. Hamilton. Two vocal selections: "Crossing the Bar," and "Abide
With Me," were sung by Mrs. William Harriman, Miss Edna M. Fletcher and Mrs. Wilfred D.
Hamilton, with Miss Annie Burgess at the organ.
This was followed by a Rebekah service, and also by a service of the W. C. T. U., with the
County President, Mrs. Edith Wheeler of North Abington in charge, assisted by the County
Vice President, Mrs. Regene Berry of Hanson, and others. The profusion of beautiful floral
tributes was a testimonial of the esteem in which the deceased was held.
Burial was in the family lot of Vine Hills cemetery.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by her husband, George F. Holmes, one daughter, Miss Amy F. Holmes,
a graduate nurse in the hospital at Northville, Michigan; two sons, Adrian A. Holmes of Plymouth,
and Harold Willis Holmes of Springfield, Mass.; on brother, Elmer Manter of Dorchester; two
sisters, Mrs. Nellie Douglas of Taunton, and Mrs. Emma Leland of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; also two
