Lieutenant Colonel, US Marine Corps retired, Joseph Bryan "Joe" Brown Jr was born in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan on September 20, 1929, the son of Joseph Bryan Brown Sr (1896–1970) and his 2nd wife Nannie Elizabeth (Travis) Brown (1906–1989).
He entered the US Marine Corps in 1947 and retired in 1970 after 23 years of honorable service, boot training at Parris Island, South Carolina and retiring at Quantico, Virginia. He served in both Korea and Vietnam.
He was married about 1950 to Dorothy Danielson and was a graduate of Brigham Young University. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he worked as Office Manager for the Department of Motor Vehicles in Ventura, California until his final retirement in 1985.
Living in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee, Joe was 89 years old when he passed away at home on March 5, 2019.
Preceded in death by his parents, he was survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter-in-law, a married daughter, two sisters, four grandchildren and four great-grandsons.
There was a gathering of family and friends at the family plot in Sugar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Marion, Kentucky.
