A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Harriet was born on May 4, 1922 in Hamburg, Carver County, Minnesota to Herbert Hugo and Minnie (Mueller) Kloempken. She graduated from Central High School in Norwood in 1940 and then attended Hamline University in St. Paul. On October 2, 1943 she married Otto Edward Siewert. They moved to Sanborn to further "Otto Joe's" teaching career and then to Redwood Falls where they raised their family and resided for many years. Harriet was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She volunteered at her church, delivered Meals on Wheels, served as an election judge, and supported every activity at Redwood Valley High School with her fellow group of Cardinal fans, dubbed the "Red Hat Ladies." Harriet was an excellent golfer and bowler, an avid reader, and a superb crossword puzzle solver.
Harriet is survived by 4 children: Kathy (Jim) Kay of New Braunfels, TX, Jim (Candy) Siewert of St. Peter, Mary (Mike) Radniecki of Apache Junction, AZ, Wendy (John) Kind of Mankato; 10 grandchildren: JoAnna Kay, John (Hyun Jung) Kay, Jamie Kay, Tim (Kaitlin) Siewert, CJ (Kayla) Siewert, Chelsea Siewert, Scott (Abby) Radniecki, Sarah (Chris) Kimbrough, Mallory (Luke) Howk, Emma (Matt) Norland; 8 great grandchildren: Autumn, Hana, Kirra, and Coco Kay, Theo and Max Siewert, Emmitt Howk, Jacob Norland; and sister, Mavis Kramer of St. Louis Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto; brother, Howard Herbert Kloempken; and infant granddaughter, Carolyn Caye Siewert.
The family wishes to thank Ecumen Prairie Hill and St. Croix Hospice for their skilled and compassionate care of Harriet. Memorials are preferred to these two organizations or donor's choice and may be sent to Wendy Kind, 752 Grayhawk Circle, Mankato, MN 56001.
