RESIDENT OF OTTUMWA 76 YEARS DIES
Lewis J. Ruffing, 76, a lifetime resident of this vicinity, died at the St. Joseph hospital today at 1:20 a.m. His home was on Ottumwa route 6.
Mr. Ruffing was born in Ottumwa September 22, 1862, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Ruffing, who came to Ottumwa in 1855.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. A.F. Ames of Lincoln; two sisters, Mrs. P.J. [sic] Schwartz of Ottumwa and Mrs. Annie Gaume of Redlands, Calif.; three brothers, Joseph, Henry and Charles, all of Ottumwa, and one granddaughter, Angela Ames of Lincoln.
Services will be Monday at 8:30 a.m. in the Vaughan funeral chapel and at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Catholic church where requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. B.J. Decker.
