Elisha Brown was a resident of Warwick, Massachusetts, and although his marriage was not found recorded there in 1975, the births of nine children were recorded in Warwick Town Records, Book 2, Page 8. A death certificate declared his birthplace to have been Waltham. Notably, in 1771/2, Massachusetts was still a British colony. His parents names were given as Samuel and Abigail. His occupation was farming. On August 30, 1850, Elisha Brown, age 78, and Rebecca Brown, age 76, were identified as paupers in the household of Jehial and Sally F. Smith of Warwick, Massachusetts. Elisha died of consumption and old age at the age of 82, on June 22, 1853, Vol. 3, Page 10, No. 10, Warwick Town Records. The gravestone has a history of its own as witnessed by the photos from 1950, 1977, and 2007.
