Neece.

Mrs. W. H. Neece died at her late residence, 404 West Jackson street, at 8:10 a. m. Saturday of kidney trouble complicated with other ailments, aged 72 years, 11 months and 28 days. Funeral services were held at the late residence at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon; interment in Oakwood cemetery.

Ruby Janette Ingalls [sic] was born in Otsego county, New York, Nov. 5, 1834, and came to this state in 1837 with her parents, locating at Pittsfield, Pike county. They lived there until 1854 when they moved to this county. She was married to William H. Neece May 3, 1857, and moved to this city which has since been her home.

Her life was devoted to her husband and children. A struggling young lawyer when she married him she assisted with words of cheer when the path seemed particularly steep and shared with him the honors which she had helped him win. Her last illness has been of about nine months duration and every act that medical skill could suggest was performed, but the ravages of the disease could not be stayed and gradually she grew worse until death came as a relief.

She had been a member of the Universalist church for over thirty years and was an enthusiastic worker.

She is survived by her husband, one son, Dr. W. A. Neece, two brothers, E. B. Ingalls [sic] of Ft. Madison and Newton H. Ingalls of Shenandoah, Ia.; and three sisters, Mrs. Adelaide Pierce [sic], Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Sarah Newland, Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Viola Stewart, Oklahoma.

Following are among those from out of town who attended the funeral:

Mrs. S. E. Newland, Washington, D. C., a sister; E. B. Ingalls [sic] and wife of Ft. Madison, Ia., brother of deceased; Mrs. Naomi Taylor of LaBell [sic], Mo., sister of Mr. Neece; Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Flurry of Colchester, and Rev. Abram Newland of Tennessee, Messrs. and Mesdames Mack Delbridge, Orvia Woolley, Clarence Underhill, W. H. Neece, Abe Stookey, Will Robinson, Herman Robinson, and Mrs. Jane Canote, Sarah Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Andy Champ, all of Colchester, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hoing of Colmar, and Mrs. Maggie Barbee of Brooklyn, Mo.
