Floyd Koester, 94, of Oregon, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Floyd was born in Oregon Township on August 30, 1917 to Henry and Wilhelmenia (Lauman) Koester. Mr. Koester was employed at Hecklinger Brothers Greenhouse for 53 years before his retirement in 1989. He was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church. Floyd truly loved his work and enjoyed his garden at home. Surviving are his sons, James (Sandra) and Robert (Sharon) Koester; daughters, Donna Koester and Joyce (Dan) Martin; brothers, Glenn (Margaret) and Donald (Virginia) Koester; sisters, Edna Rideout and Eleanor Cochenour; grandchildren, Michael (Annette) Koester, Stephanie Koester, Devin (Leslie) Koester, Jean and Patrick Martin; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Zachary, Kent and Maci Koester. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; daughter, Jean; brother, Elmer; sisters, Florence Budy and Ruth Zitzelberger. Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in First St. Johns Lutheran Church on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Willow Cemetery.
