March 14, 1925 - September 15, 2005

Della Bernice Rosa Adams passed away peacefully on September 15, 2005, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, located at 415 12th Avenue South, Nampa, Idaho, with graveside services following at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 15862 South Indiana Avenue, Caldwell, Idaho. A viewing for family and friends will be held at Nampa Funeral Home on Monday, September 19, 2005, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Bernice was born March 14, 1925, in Cromwell, Oklahoma, to her parents, Walter and Sarah Young. She had one sister, Lola Ann Young. Because of the Great Depression, her family moved west to find work in Oregon and California, finally settling in Chowchilla, California, where she grew up.

She married Edward Leonard in 1940. Several years after their divorce, she moved to Hawaii, with her sister, Lola, where she met the love of her life, Bill Adams, whom she married in 1962.

Bernice was blessed with five children: William Leonard, of Gridley, California; Ruth Leonard Webster, of Chico, California; Thomas Leonard, of La Pierre, Michigan; Gary Leonard, of Berry Creek, California; and Linda Jackson, of Nampa, Idaho. She never remarried after Bill passed away in 1976.

Bernice was a wonderful caregiver, having cared for both her aging parents before their deaths. She loved traveling, going for car rides, bowling, and collecting ceramics and antiques. The greatest joys of her life were her children and grandchildren. She always insisted on being called "Granny" rather than Grandma, and she loved "smooching" her grandkids and great-grandkids.

In 1995, it was her turn to be cared for, and she moved to Nampa to live with her daughter, Linda. Due to her declining health, her activities were greatly curtailed, but she still loved going to brunch with her daughter, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren, and always looked forward to car rides in the rain.
Bernice is survived by her five children, Bill, Ruth, Tommy, Gary, and Linda, 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Sarah Young, her husband, Bill Adams, and her sister, Lola.
