John Riley Kelley was the first born son of William and Sarah (Weddle) Kelley. He married Adeline Booth on Jan. 18, 1863 in Jackson Co. Indiana. They had 2 sons: James William and Isaac Thomas. John Riley and Adeline divorced in Johnson Co. IL in Sep 1868. John Riley then married Harriet Elizabeth Mathis in Johnson Co. on Nov. 11, 1868. They had 10 children: Margaret A., John Farmer married 1st Martha I. Koonce and 2nd Minnie Soto Ollis, Ollie married Robert Lee Ward, Barbara married James L. Koonce, Leander Ferrell married 1st Lillie Mae Webb and 2nd Oma Koonce, Earl Miller married 1st Laura E. Ragsdale and 2nd Laura B. Phemister and 3rd Eva Smith, Etha, Gussie, Bertie married Hiram "Hi" Hudgens, and Lettie Francis married Dolph Toler.
