ETHEL BALES DIES IN BINGEN ON SEPTEMBER 10TH

Ethel Clementine Bales, born July 4, 1892 in Centralia, Wn., died Sept. 10, 1969 in Bingen.

She was the daughter of Julia and Issac Bales who moved to Appleton from Portland where they lived for many years. Her last few years were spent in White Salmon and Bingen.

Surviving family include: a brother Julius Maier of Dallesport, Wn.; a sister, Carlene Courtney of Olympia, Wn., and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Weinn and Lulu Nagel; and a brother, Percy Bales.

Services were held Wednesday afternoon, September 17, at 1 o'clock at Gardner's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Donald Kaelin officiating.

Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Appleton. The casket bearers were: Julius Courtney, Wilber Johnson, Dennis Beeks, Leonard Wienn, Elmer Beeks, and Raymond Shurtz.

Ethel Bales, an aunt of Louis Nagel and Evelyn Shurtz, passed away in White Salmon last week. She had lived in Appleton off and on over the years. The funeral was Wednesday at Gardner's Funeral Home, burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Appleton.
