A viewing will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. 2114 West Market St. The graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Saviour Cemetery with Rev. David Brinker officiating. Full military rites will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard prior to the graveside service.
Mr. Contres was born January 18, 1931 in Ralphton, PA, a son of the late Jess P. and Kathryn (Kisula) Contres. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He had been employed at Mason Dixon and Consolidated Freight and retired from the Teamsters Union local 430 where he had served as Vice President, Recording Secretary, Trustee, and Business Agent. He was recognized as winner of York County Truck Rodeo competitions, eight PA Truck Rodeos, and 2 National Truck Rodeos. He was a member of American Legion Shiloh Post, Hawks Gunning Club, and Victory AA.
Bill is survived by his wife; children William G. Contres, Jr. and his wife Sheree, Karreston L. Chervenitski and her husband John, Kurt D. Contres and his wife Darlene, Coy Contres and his wife LuAnn; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers John Contres, and Richard Contres. He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew, brother and sister Robert Contres and Helen Ann Hileman.
